AR and Scanimation

 One day our faculty divided the class into two parts and gave us different topics and we were told to get a an example of the method for anywhere and show the other side if the other side guess the right word they win.We were given the topic of scanimation which was hard to find but we still did make it and we guess the concept of AR very easily. After this fun activity we were told by our faculty that we have to use it in our next project. We had to decide a problem that we could see around us which needed a light upon. Design movements

 The next day it was a fun assignment were there was a bowl full of chits and we had to take out one chit per person and on all those chits there were different design movements and me and my peers all had different movements, the one I got was 'Kolkata during the times of Tagore'. I was quiet excited about it as I had quiet a bit of knowledge about the art and design movements in the Europe but very less about the Indian art and design movements. As I started my research, I came across the work of Tagore himself, Him putting together the Shantiniketan and then the great personalities that passed out of shantiniketan and while going through the list i came across a legendary person 'Satyaji ray' and i was obsessed by his work in films and his beyond his time typography and illustration aesthetic in his work. Expressive typography Layouts

 As all of my peers and I were done with the three digital illustrations of the words we decided on the second day, we were told by our faculty that we had to make 5 experimental layouts with a short quote or a poem with the expressive typography we had. As I was very happy with one of my expressive typography I decided to do the layout with that, here I experimented with many things like color, pattern, text placement, etc.

Magazine layout

 The next day we started out to do a layout. For that we learned the basics of lay outing and the rules of a beautiful layout. We learned about Widows, Orphans and Rags and how to get rid of then through Kerning and tracking, we also learned about the amount of words that should be in a sentence and the size of the letters that is readable to the human eyes,etc.  Then we were told to get a magazine reference and for that magazine we had take one spread and do the same layout in Indesign, we could change the text and the photos in the spread but the layout had to be spot on.  I took a reference of a magazine called as the rolling stones Queens I turned it into a magazine made for Elton john but keeping the layout, font size, type face and everything else the same

Expressive Typography

  As the second day started, once again our faculty told us to write whatever emotions we are feeling on to the blackboard and along with that we were shown a TED Talk about typography and type design by Shiva Nallaperumal, he described his journey of becoming a type designer and him getting inspired by the history and other cultures, him trying to blur the gap between computer science and designing. We were told by our faculty that we had to write words relating to the video and how were we feeling that day, and then we had to choose any five words from the sum of all the words written by all my peers and me, we had to come up with experimental typographic designs using those words, the words I selected were    UNIRONED ON TOES CURIOUS TIRED INTERSTELLAR  I came up with many different prototypes on paper before getting on to do it digitally, and we also had to take a peer review on our prototypes so it went through  I came up with an idea for my first word 'un...
